About

I’m Jules ten Bos. I wonder about things — how reality works, how we relate to it, how language shapes what we see. SPLectrum is where I am exploring in the open.

I have been fortunate, after years of thought and toil, to be able to cast a point of departure in principles I call the SPLectrum seed — six lines about language, relation, and reality. A foundation for a worldview of interrelational pluralism.

From that seed a philosophy has grown. It has two distinct sides, like a coin. On one side it deals with what all voices hold in common; on the other it speaks in its own voice starting from three core values — belonging, privacy and creativity — which it finds at the heart of how we live. Much of the work in this project is listening: learning from philosophers and scientists who reached kindred ground by other roads. The philosophy claims no last word; it is one voice among many.

SPLectrum started out as a software engineering idea, a DSL engine for language and meaning. It has since grown into a full-blown philosophy with language as the medium. The engineering ideas still hold, although progress is slow due to time constraints. Within engineering SPLectrum is part of a triangle, together with Mycelium — a data fabric — and HAICC — human-AI creative collaboration — with peer-to-peer as the way its pieces connect. Together they represent an effort to build a technological reality in the image of SPLectrum.

In this project we practise what we preach. And this includes HAICC, by which this whole project is made.
